What will be the long term consequences of Delhi's pollution on us?

Do you smoke?

If yes: These pollution issues are useless. You are already ready to die early. No need to read further. Do something for your loved ones.

If no: You are being forced to ‘smoke in’ that number of cigarettes. Big number! For a non smoker.

High probability of lung problems, respiratory issues and definite reduction in life expectancy.

World Health Organisation (WHO) prescribed safe limit for air pollution (PM 2.5) is 10 (annual avg.). Many cities crosses this limit e.g. london by 1.5 -2 times, but we the people of india never settle for less, population & typical indian mindset is cherry on the top.

On several days this level has crossed hazardous category. Search for annual averages yourself, its around 13 to 15 times of WHO prescribed limit in recent years.

Same as smoking, the effects of such pollution level may not appear in short term. But poison is poison, it works (sometimes slowly) but would do its work.

Now should you leave delhi? Ask yourself.

I would say..No…………………..but only if you expect government to take path breaking steps, only if you expect change in typical indian mindset, only if major industries are ready to sacrifice the way they produce and spend some money, only if conscience takes over greed.
